Building a Smarter Water Future for the City of Globe

The City of Globe initiated a large-scale modernization of its water infrastructure to improve accuracy, reduce non-revenue water loss, and meet regulatory compliance under Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) mandates. In partnership with Phoenix Water Solutions (PWS), the City set out to replace approximately 3,500 water meters across residential and commercial properties, while conducting concurrent service line material inspections. The project leverages advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) and supports long-term sustainability, data visibility, and operational efficiency. The Challenge Prior to project initiation, the City faced several infrastructure and process challenges: Outdated mechanical meters contributing to billing inaccuracies. Inconsistent field documentation of service line materials. No centralized system for meter read uploads or GIS tagging. Lack of integration between field operations

How Conservice Improved Water Meter Accuracy with Phoenix Water Solutions

Conservice is a recognized leader in utility management, providing comprehensive solutions to optimize utility services for residential and commercial properties. One of the critical aspects of utility management is ensuring accurate meter readings. Precision in water metering directly impacts billing accuracy, customer satisfaction, and operational efficiency.  However, outdated water meters and California strict regulations pose an opportunity for collaboration. Aging infrastructure can lead to incorrect readings, resulting in overcharges or undercharges for residents. Additionally, evolving California regulations required a 10%-meter change-out to maintain compliance. To comply with these regulations, Conservice partnered with Phoenix Water Solutions, to provide a seamless, data-driven approach to water utility management and meter infrastructure upgrades.  This case study explores how Conservice and Phoenix Water Solutions implemented

How Smart Infrastructure Reduced Water Loss by 40%

Water is one of our most vital natural resources — essential for public health, agriculture, industry, and ecosystems. Yet, despite its value, an alarming amount of treated water never reaches its intended destination. Globally, water utilities lose an average of 30% of their supply due to leakage, theft, or poor infrastructure. In some regions, the figure climbs even higher. But new developments in smart infrastructure are turning the tide. By integrating digital technology into water systems — from smart meters to predictive analytics — cities and utilities are achieving up to 40% reductions in water loss, all while improving operational efficiency, lowering costs, and contributing to long-term sustainability goals. The Scale of the Problem Water loss in distribution systems, often
